BOARD OF LICENSE COMMISSIONERS

The Board of License Commissioners regulates the retail sale of alcoholic beverages in Baltimore City (Code Alcoholic Beverages Article, secs. 12-101 through 12-2802).

In Baltimore City, the Board's three members and one alternate were appointed by the Governor to two-year terms. The Governor named the chair (Chapter 347, Acts of 2014; Code Alcoholic Beverages Article, secs. 12-101 through 12-210).

In 2016, responsibility for appointing the Board's members transferred to the Mayor and the City Council President. The Mayor appoints two members, and the City Council President appoints one member and one alternate (Chapter 26, Acts of 2016).
