Report to Governor, Senate President, & House Speaker due Oct. 1, 2019 (Executive Order 01.01.2019.01).

In January 2019, the Maryland Opportunity Zone Leadership Task Force was authorized (Executive Order 01.01.2019.01).

To make Maryland Opportunity Zones more competitive, effective, and profitable, the Task Force is to develop an Opportunity Plan, that sets goals for the State's Opportunity Zones that fit Maryland's specific priorities, as well as the culture and economy of their location. Further, the Task Force will create a multi-year timeline where goals can be measured and assessed annually. Citizens will be provided access to the work of the Task Force through regional summits and an electronic portal. A clearinghouse will be established for local governments, developers, and interested parties to learn about and access Opportunity Zone resources and opportunities.

Also, the Task Force is to advise the Govenor on Opportunity Zones and carry out the Governor's policies; develop a community marketing strategy and economic development policy for Opportunity Zones; recommend legislation as needed to enhance incentives for Opportunity Zones; devise innovative methods to integrate Opportunity Zones into existing State programs, such as More Jobs for Marylanders and EARN Maryland; and coordinate and involve local governments.

In October 2019, the Task Force will submit a progress report. Additional reports may be requested by the Governor.
