In October 2001, the Executive Committee for Dredged Material Management Plans formed (Chapter 627, Acts of 2001).

The development of State plans to manage dredged material from the Port of Baltimore is overseen by the Committee. The Committee works to develop a program that is effective economically and environmentally sound.

In December 2001, the Committee submitted its report to the General Assembly on implementation of Chapter 627, Acts of 2001. As required under the Act, the Committee reported to the General Assembly on the strategic long-term management plans for dredged materials on December 31, 2002.

Since 2002, the Committee has continued to meet twice annually to oversee the Dredged Material Management Program of the Maryland Port Administration.

The Committee is assisted by the Bay Enhancement Working Group; the Citizens' Advisory Committee, the Cox Creek Citizens Oversight Committee, the Harbor Team; the Hart-Miller-Pleasure Island Citizens Oversight Committee; the Innovative Reuse Committee; the Management Committee; and the Masonville Citizens Advisory Committee.
