Appointed by Senate President:
Catherine E. Pugh, Chair

Staff: Jennifer K. Botts; Amy A. Devadas (410) 946-5510, (301) 970-5510

In January 2001, the Senate President formed the Special Committee on Substance Abuse. The Committee studied how Maryland was addressing substance abuse, and what legal, social, fiscal and bureaucratic issues bar improvement. Strategies that successfully combat substance abuse were reviewed by the Committee, and recommendations were developed to improve how the State copes with substance abuse and its related problems.

The Special Committee last met in October 2013.
